Netflix, is to bring to viewers an original Japanese animation based on the Godzilla character.

The production will have its exclusive premiere on Netflix worldwide following a Toho theatrical release in Japan. The movie is described by the SVOD service as the first-ever high quality animation of the iconic global monster. The adaption aims to offer an epic re-imagining of the Godzilla world for fans of the story and lure a new generation of viewers to the tale.
To bring to life Godzilla’s latest adaptation, Toho is working with leading Japanese anime studio Polygon Pictures, directors Kobun Shizuno, and Hiroyuki Seshita with a screenplay from acclaimed anime writer Gen Urobuchi.

Netflix has also revealed the voice cast who will be bringing the film to life, led by Yuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai, Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Kana Hanazawa and Mamoru Miyano. Godzilla is set to be the latest addition to the growing slate of Netflix original anime content exclusively available to audiences around the world. Other Netflix exclusive anime titles include AJIN: Demi-Human, Kuromukuro, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad, Blame!, Gantz: O, Little Witch Academia, Cyborg 009 Call of Justice and Perfect Bones.
