The appointment further strengthens STV Productions’ successful multi-genre team, the company notes, which has a solid record of success across entertainment, factual and drama. The production arm of the Scottish based broadcaster and production studio, has produced in factual Antiques Road Trip for fourteen series on the BBC, along with a further six series of sister programme Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.  In entertainment, the company has produced five series of the revived Catchphrase for ITV, and two series of Safeword for ITV2, as well as new reality format Tour de Celeb for Channel 5 and The Dressing Room for UKTV’s entertainment channel W.

STV Productions brought ‘Tree of the Year’ to Channel 4 in 2016

Collins joined STV Productions in January 2016 and has since won a number of commissions for BBC and Channel 4, including Tree of the Year, a special one-off on Channel 4 unveiling the winner of the national contest to find the UK’s most extraordinary tree.

STV began life in 1957 as one of the early ITV network broadcast and production companies, launching as Scottish Television. By the late 1990s the company had also taken over Grampian Television, later re-branding it as STV North with Scottish Television becoming STV Central. Over the decades STV has produced many memorable programmes including children’s show Finders Keepers, crime thriller Taggart, detective series Rebus and soap operas Garnock Way and Take The High Road, the latter which can be seen on their recently launched station STV2.

“Peter has brought a wealth of creativity, skill and experience to the team since he joined last year and we look forward to continuing to secure commissions in this genre.” – Alan Clements, director of content at STV Productions
