Later 25 at the Royal Albert Hall is to air on BBC Two.

“Every edition of Later… With Jools Holland is an event, artist following artist, Jools and camera crew moving from stage to stage, the whole bigger than the sum of its parts. So to bring that experience to the grand intimacy and magical bowl that is the Royal Albert Hall should be a mega-event. We’ll have done around 360 shows by the time we get to the Albert Hall so it’s only appropriate to film a great mix of artists there in 360 degrees.” – Mark Cooper, Head of Music Television, BBC Studios

Jools Holland is to take his long running music show to the Royal Albert Hall this September to celebrate 25 years of Later with Jools Holland airing on the beeb. In that time Jools has fronted fifty series and over 360 episodes for BBC Two.

Featuring a typically eclectic blend of signature artists including major stars, legends, artists of the moment and brand new talent across genres from rock ‘n’ roll to jazz and all points in between, this multi-artist show will be filmed in the round, filling the Hall’s main stage and floor with artists, in the style of the Later… studio as seen on TV.

Viewers will be able to experience the television format live at the Royal Albert Hall for one night only. With Jools Holland’s commitment to all manner of musicians and music that matters the show will feature ten artists, old friends of the show and some new ones. Guest stars over the years have included newcomers alongside well known names such as Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Kirsty MacColl, and Paul Weller to name only a few.

The Later 25 show will be broadcast after the live performance at a later date in September on BBC Two.

“It’s fantastic that we’re going to celebrate 25 years of making this show with a special one off event, where all of the workings of the Later experience will be transported into the Royal Albert Hall!” – Jools Holland
