Moonlight and Three Rivers actor Alex O’Loughlin has been persuaded to join the forthcoming CBS pilot of Hawaii Five-0. Earlier this week it was announced that Lost actor Daniel Dae Kim had also been signed up for the remake. After several weeks of speculation as to whether or not Alex O’Loughlin would join the CBS remake of Hawaii Five-0 it’s finally been confirmed the actor will. O’Loughlin has previously appeared in Moonlight and Three Rivers and was widely tipped for the part of Detective Steve McGarrett [played in the original series by Jack Lord] however, it took a while in getting O’Loughlin to sign on the dotted line. Stargate actor Michael Shanks revealed this week he had been up for a part in the remake as well – hinting it was the part of McGarrett. It was also revealed earlier this week that Lost actor Daniel Dae Kim will play Chin Ho Kelly in the pilot – a remake of the classic 1970s series. If the pilot is successful CBS will likely commission a weekly series and they’ll be hoping it is successful seeing as its taken several years for the pilot to get off the ground. Fringe writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who also wrote the script for the recent Star Trek movie, are helming the pilot along with Peter Lenkov who is the executive producer of CSI: New York.
