UKTV is to broadcast its first network-wide roadblock for a first look teaser of Watch’s, new show Code Black.

It is the first time that UKTV has deployed a first look promo as a billed programme across its entire portfolio of ten linear channels, UKTV play and its social channels at exactly the same time. The exclusive trailer, running at five minutes long and cut by UKTV’s in-house creative team will air at 9pm on Thursday 22nd October, exactly one week ahead of Code Black’s launch on October 29th at 9pm.

This also marks the first time UKTV has provided a sneak peek at Pay programming via its direct-to-consumer UKTV Play service. Medical drama Code Black is set in LA County Hospital – the busiest ER in America – which declares ‘Code Black’ when the number of patients threatens to overwhelm staff.

The thirteen-part series stars Marcia Gay Harden and renowned British actor Raza Jaffrey. The UK screening will air just two weeks after it’s stateside launch.

Inspired by the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, Code Black is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest ER in the US, LA County Hospital. The staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. At this urban hospital, it’s not if they go Code Black, it’s when.

At the core is the brilliant, hard-nosed residency director Dr. Leanne Royer (Gay Harden) mentoring a group of four new residents in her aggressive style of medicine borne out of her own shocking past which puts her at odds with colleagues and students.

This is a medical drama like no other, behind the scenes there are numerous medical professionals on staff including actual trauma nurses who actually appear on screen as trauma nurses. Every actor on the show went through a medical boot camp set up by Executive Producer Michael Sietzman. Code Black is high octane and intense, every second is a matter of life or death in this ER…
