A selection of top BBC Newsreaders performed a medley of Lady Gaga hits, as the show raises over £18m on the night.

In what has become an annual event, a selection of high profile presenters from BBC News programmes performed as Lady Gaga to raise money for BBC’s Children In Need. Fiona Bruce, Sophie Raworth, Susanna Reid and Kate Silverton dressed up in bizarre outfits and sung to hits such as ‘Paparazzi’. Nicholas Owen, Ben Brown and Charlie Stayt acted as the paparazzi during the song, taking a reduced role this year.

Children In Need raised £18,098,199 on the night as Take That, Susan Boyle, Peter Andre and McFly performed to help raise money. A soap special, in which EastEnders met Coronation Street has been widely received as one of the best segments from last nights seven hour telethon, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton.

Sir Terry Wogan, who has hosted since Children In Need began in 1980 has thanked the British public for donating. “The generosity of the Great British public is just staggering and we are so grateful for all your donations.We couldn’t help the disadvantaged children and young people of this country without your help so please give what you can and help change a young life for the better. Thank you.”
