A flood at the Elstree Studios saw Big Brother 11’s live feed cut as the contestants were evacuated to a portakabin while the flood damage was repaired.
Channel 4 say “Big Brother safely evacuated all of the housemates tonight after a freak storm caused the house to flood. As the storm worsened and rain began seeping into the house Big Brother gathered the housemates and escorted them all into a nearby building. The housemates are all in good spirits and enjoying their unexpected trip out of the compound whilst Big Brother examines the situation in the house.”
Images of the damage captured before the live online feed was cut showed the extent of the damage to the house.
The back lot at the Elstree Studios which is home Big Brother – and has been since 2002 – saw the Big Brother House built on top of the exterior water tank. All subsequent Big Brother constructions have continued to be built on the tank.
There isn’t any information to whether the tank was involved with the incident this evening.
UPDATE: 1.10am: The show’s presenter, Davina McCall, has told fans via Twitter that the water has been cleaned up and the contestants have returned to the house.
