CBS This Morning makes its debut as the network tries to take viewers from its rivals. The first edition aired yesterday featuring some new faces and a sparkling new studio. The new studio and format is closer to cable news shows rather than the traditional breakfast shows which CBS has found hard to crack.

Erica Hill is joined by new hosts Charlie Rose (pictured) and Gayle King who sit in the middle of the studio at a circular-spiked desk. CBS decided last year to axe The Early Show in order to try something new. The Early Show followed a similar format to that of its rivals NBC’s Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America.

Ratings data for the first show are expected later today.
