It’s often claimed that X Factor is just a karaoke competition and now the original celebrity fuelled karaoke show Night Fever could return to do battle with Cowell’s singing contest.
Channel 5’s Ben Frow has said he would like to see the Saturday evening karaoke show Night Fever make a return.
Director of Programming at Channel 5, Ben Frow, has given a lengthy interview to ThisIsVerified where he has revealed the shows he would like to see on Channel 5. One of the shows he would like to see back is Night Fever, one of the original 5 programmes which helped establish Channel 5.
Frow told ThisIsVerified: “No point trying to do yet another talent show but Karaoke…perhaps it’s time to bring it back.”
Hosted by Madness front-man Suggs, the Saturday evening entertainment programme saw celebrities do battle by answering questions and taking to the microphone to sing classic hits. Night Fever ran from the launch of Channel 5 in 1997 until 2002.
He also revealed that he would like to resurrect the former BBC One soap Eldorado and entertainment show Summertime Special.
Frow took over the role from Jeff Ford in November 2012 and immediately set to work to make significant changes to the network.
He set to ensure this summer’s Big Brother was a success by partially bringing back live streaming and acquired the rights to hit CBS drama Under The Dome, which premiers on Channel 5 on Monday 19th August at 10.00pm during the final of Big Brother.
