Denise Welch has quit the BBC drama series Waterloo Road to concentrate on ITV panel show Loose Women.
The actress will bow out of the school saga at the end of its fifth year after playing French teacher Steph Haydock since series one. The role has seen her nominated for Best Actress at next months’ TV Quick Awards.
“Denise has had a brilliant time but is looking forward to getting back to Loose Women and having more time with family and friends. We hope she’ll come back in future series.” – BBC
Filming on the fifth series of Waterloo Road is currently underway in Manchester with episodes expected to air on BBC One from October. A sixth series of the drama has already been confirmed and will go into production shortly after filming on series five concludes in January.
Welch has been a regular panellist on female-slanted talk show Loose Women since 2005.
