Television presenter and fashion guru Gok Wan has revealed he would like to take part in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Wan, presenter of shows such as How To Look Good Naked and Gok’s Fashion Fix, revealed his interest in appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in an interview with tabloid newspaper the Daily Star. If he were to take part though Gok Wan would like to see Strictly allow same-sex dancing couples.
“[They] have asked me to take part and I will do it when I get time off……Strictly should have same-sex couples. Absolutely”
The issue of same-sex dancing couples has not been raised before on Strictly Come Dancing. However, when Lance Bass appeared on Strictly’s American counter-part, Dancing with the Stars, there was some speculation as to whether the former N Sync singer would be paired up with a male dancer. The speculation proved to be unfounded though as Bass was paired up with Lacey Schwimmer for the series and finished in third place.
The new series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice features the openly gay, former Welsh Rugby player, Gareth Thomas as part of its line-up. However, Thomas has been paired up with Robin Johnstone and not a same-sex partner.
