Grey’s Anatomy Season Finale Pulls In Big Ratings

The 8th season finale of Shonda Rhimes drama Grey’s Anatomy drew over 11 million viewers last night.

American Idol once again dominated the 8pm hour for Fox with a whopping 15.8 million viewers and an impressive 4.2 18-49 rating. The only show to come close to that 18-49 rating was a repeat of The Big Bang Theory on CBS which had a 2.4 rating with 8.3 million viewers. The comedy was followed by the season finale of Rules of Engagement which had 7.2 million viewers with a 2.1 rating. The series finale of Missing – it was cancelled – on ABC had 6.4 million viewers with a 1.3 rating. NBC’s Community also had a 1.3 rating but had a lower 2.9 million viewers while the season finale of Tina Fey comedy 30 Rock drew 2.8 million viewers with a 1.3 18-49 rating.

The 8th season finale of Grey’s Anatomy won the hour for ABC at 9pm. The medical drama drew its biggest audience for several weeks with 11.1 million viewers and a 3.9 18-49 rating. CBS’s Person of Interest had more viewers with 13.3 million viewers but had a 2.5 18-49 rating. Touch on Fox attracted 6.3 million viewers with a 1.8 rating while Community on NBC had 2.6 million viewers with a 1.3 rating followed by the season finale with 2.4 million viewers and a 1.3 rating. A repeat of supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries on The CW mustered 710,000 viewers with just a 0.2 rating.

At 10pm CBS’s The Mentalist reached its season finale with 12.9 million viewers with a 2.5 18-49 rating. Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal hit a new high for its season finale with 7.5 million viewers and a 2.4 18-49 rating.
