Reports claim that ITV’s police-drama Identity, which starred Keeley Hawes and Aiden Gillen, could be axed after just one series because of low ratings. The Sun claims that ITV bosses are poised to axe the series after its recent run failed to light up the ratings chart. While Identity launched with nearly 6 million viewers by the end of its six-part run ratings had dropped to just 3 million viewers.

“Executives weren’t happy with the ratings and the fact they got worse as the show went on wasn’t a good omen.” An ‘Insider’ quoted in The Sun

ITV has insisted that no decision has been taken on the future of Identity yet. The broadcaster has struggled to launch a successful new 9pm drama in the slot with recent failures Married, Single, Other and Monday Monday struggling with ratings.
