Mini revamp planned for Channel 5 News

A mini revamp is due to happen next year, as the channel changes from ‘Five’ to ‘Channel 5′.

A source has told ATV Today that a mini revamp is planned ahead of the changes in January. It is expected in January 2011, that the current on screen branding of ‘Five’ will change back to ‘Channel 5’. The new logo has already been released to the press, and is the same logo in the image to your left.

Five News is also expected to change to coincide with the new look of the channel. We asked Channel 5 if they planned to change the title of their news programming to Channel 5 News, to which they said “That is still subject to much debate.”

In 2009, Channel 5 extended the news contract until 2012 with Sky News. The extended contract did see some changes, including more use of Sky News reporters and axing of many weather presenters. The new Channel 5 management are said to be pleased with the service that Sky provide. “We have a contract with Sky News and we are currently very happy with the service they provide.”

Main news presenter Natasha Kaplinsky is due to leave in December.
