The series fronted by Noel Edmonds is returning to SKY 1 this festive season and the search is now on for people who truly deserve the Christmas present of a lifetime.
The series gives a present to a worthy individual or family; several gifts are given over the course of the hour-long yearly special. SKY 1 is looking for those who could be surprised for the 2011 edition.
“Do you know someone who has faced adversity, through personal circumstances, illness or loss and has been a selfless and inspiring example to others? Is there someone in your life who dreams of spending Christmas with a lost love or family member they haven’t seen for a long time but their current circumstances prevent them from doing so? How would you reward them to make this Christmas extra special?” Production company TwoFour asks.
Over the years Noel Edmonds has travelled the length and breadth of the country to surprise some of the nation’s most deserving, hard-working and selfless people with a Christmas Present they will never forget. This years special will start recording shortly.
“Christmas comes early for me every year as I get the huge treat to give some magical presents to some truly inspiring people.” Edmonds said.
The roots of the programme go back to 1986 when Edmonds fronted Christmas Morning with Noel on BBC One, by 1989 the Christmas Presents format was introduced. The show ran from 1989 to 1991 with its yearly Christmas day slot. The series was revived in 1993 thanks to a bomb hoax. The 1991 episode was screened instead of a regular live edition of entertainment series Noel’s House Party when TV Centre was evacuated due to a call suggesting the IRA had planted a bomb at the studios. The show proved a ratings winner and remained with BBC One until 1999.
SKY 1 revived the series in 2007 and has aired a special yearly since.
