The broadcaster is hoping to copy the success it has enjoyed with Teen Wolf by turning another film into a television series and this time its picked a franchise; Scream. TV Line reports that the Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson series of films is set to be re-made for television though details are few and far between on the project.
So far Scream has produced four movies with the most recent released last year and the original released in 1996. The franchise stars Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott who is usually the target for the serial killer/killers. Courtney Cox stars as journalist Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey.
The Scream films revitalised the horror franchise and especially the slasher sub-genre. It was also notable for having self-aware characters who openly talked about being in a horror film, the codes and conventions of the genre and referencing numerous other horror films. Scream was also parodied in the Scary Movie franchise although the comedies also parodied other films as well such as The Village, Saw and War of the Worlds.
The future of the film franchise is currently unclear. Scream 4 did not perform brilliantly at the box office but its believed there are still plans to produce a fifth film at some point in the future.
