Deadline reports that Shane Brennan is developing a spin-off from the hit CBS crime drama. As yet there are few details surrounding the possible new spin-off other than viewers will get their first glimpse of it in a two-part NCIS: Los Angeles story which will plant the seeds for it. The spin-off will reportedly follow a mobile team of agents who live and work together as they cross America solving crimes.
If the spin-off does go ahead it will be the latest entry in the NCIS franchise. NCIS itself is a spin-off from JAG and launched in 2003 following a two-part story, in JAG, which introduced the concept and characters to audiences. NCIS: Los Angeles was launched in 2009 and again the audience were first introduced to the show via a storyline in the parent series.
NCIS is the most watched television drama in America so its hardly surprising that CBS are keen to exploit the brand further.
