Post-apocalyptic cult series Jericho could be revived by Netflix according to reports.

TV Guide Magazine has confirmed that Netflix has approached CBS about reviving Jericho. Fans of the cancelled post-apocalyptic series shouldn’t celebrate just yet as discussions are in the very early stages and may ultimately come to nothing. However, the fact that talks are underway about reviving a series that has been off-air for four years can give fans some comfort.

Jericho revolved around a small town in Kansas in the aftermath of a devastating nuclear attacks on more than twenty cities in America. The series starred Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Kenneth Mitchell and Lennie James. Jericho was cancelled by CBS after its first season but fans leapt into action and launched a successful campaign to save the series – the campaign involved sending nuts to CBS executives.

A second series followed after which Jericho was cancelled again and no other broadcaster could be found for the series. There was talk of a movie version of the television series which has yet to happen. The story of Jericho did continue in comic book form but should talks between CBS and Netflix prove successful a third series may happen after all.

Netflix has, of course, recently revived comedy Arrested Development for a batch of new episodes – expected to be released later this year – after seven years off-air. Terra Nova fans were hoping Netflix would step in and save the time-travel drama after it was cancelled by Fox – its huge budget though makes that very unlikely.
