The second season of Dallas will launch on Channel 5 at the end of January.
The revival of the iconic 1980s sex-and-scandal drama will reportedly kick off its second season on Tuesday 29th January on Channel 5. The first season of Dallas aired on Channel Five in the Autumn followings its successful broadcast on TNT in America over the Summer.
The second season of Dallas will see the return of Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackelford as Valene and Gary Ewing; characters from the original series who were spun off into spin-off series Knots Landing in 1979. The two actors last played their roles in Dallas in the conclusion of the original series in 1991. However, the continued to play their roles in Knots Landing until the drama’s conclusion in 1993 and reprised them for the reunion movie in 1997.
Also (reportedly) returning for the second series will be Audrey Landers reprising her role of Afton Cooper-Barnes; former wife of Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval) and mother to Pamela Barnes (Julie Gonzalo) who used the name Rebecca Sutter during the first season of the revival.
The second season of the revived Dallas will feature the death of the iconic character of J.R Ewing following the death of actor Larry Hagman last year. Producers have promised a fitting tribute with a funeral episode set to feature returning characters from the original series including some who have yet to appear in the revival. Some press reports claim that actress Victoria Principal has been asked to reprise her role of Pam Barnes-Ewing, wife of Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and long-running nemesis of J.R, for the funeral episodes.
