19th Annual Screen Actors Guild AwardsOn Sunday the stars came out for the 19th TNT and TBS broadcast Screen Actors Guild Awards which saw Downton Abbey come away with a gong. The ceremony was held at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role went to Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln.

Nominations included Hugh Jackman for Les Misérables and Denzel Washington for Flight.

The Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role went to Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook.

Missing out on the gong were Helen Mirren for Hitchcock as well as Naomi Watts for The Impossible and Marion Cotillard for Rust and Bone.

The award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role was given to Tommy Lee Jones for Lincoln.

Robert De Niro had also been nominated for his role in Silver Linings Playbook along with Alan Arkin for Argo and Javier Bardem for Skyfall.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role was awarded to Anne Hathaway for Les Misérables.

Nicole Kidman had been nominated for The Paperboy along with Maggie Smith for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Sally Field for Lincoln.

The gong for an Outstanding Performance by a Motion Picture cast went to Argo. Runners up included Les Misérables and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries was bestowed upon Kevin Costner for Hatfields & McCoys while the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries went to Julianne Moore for Game Change.

Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad was given the award for an Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. The Female gong went to Homeland actress Claire Danes.

Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series was won by ITV’s Downton Abbey.

Other nominations included HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Homeland for Showtime.

Alec Baldwin picked up the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy series for ABC’s 30 Rock while Tina Fey took the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for the same programme.

Modern Family won the award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Runners up included CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Glee for Fox TV and NBC’s The Office.

The Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Dick Van Dyke.
