Katie McGrath Joins NBC’s Dracula

Merlin_Katie-McGrathMerlin actress Katie McGrath and Game of Thrones actor Nonso Anozie are joined the cast of NBC and Sky Living’s forthcoming Dracula adaptation.

TV Line report that the two have landed roles in the new 10-part adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic blood sucker. The Tudors actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is playing Dracula in the drama while Arrow actress Jessica De Gouw is playing Mina Murray.

Katie McGrath will play the aristocratic Lucy Westenra, friend to Mina, and a flirtatious gossip.  McGrath is best known for her role of the scheming witch Morgana Pendragon in BBC One’s fantasy drama Merlin. In America the first series was shown on NBC while subsequent seasons were broadcast on Syfy. The actress also appeared, in a small role, in The Tudors as well as portraying the Queen’s sister Margaret in the first part of  Channel 4’s 2009 docu-drama on the reign of Queen Elisabeth II.

Nonso Anozie meanwhile has been cast as R.M Renfield; the loyal friend and confidante of Dracula’s alter ego Alan Grayson. Nonso Anozie played Xaro Daxos in the second season of Game of Thrones; he was the Qarth merchant who promised Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) support in her quest to win back the Iron Throne but stole her dragons in a bid his bid to become king of the city.

NBC and Sky Living have yet to set a premier date for Dracula.
