Former Casualty star Patrick Robinson is returning to the ED-based medical saga.
Robinson played charge nurse Martin ‘Ash’ Ashford between 1990 and 1996, returning for a final couple of episodes in 1998. From his first episode back in September 1990 the character was part of a number of key storylines ranging from suffering racist abuse, hospital infernos and dealing with Keith Chegwin dressed as a female nurse as part of a Comic Relief special in 1993.
‘Ash’ will be thrust back in the heart of the Holby City hospital action upon his return when he is swift to utilise his medical expertise when a motorbike crashes out of control. Accompanying the casualties to the emergency room, he immediately makes an impression with his new colleagues. Of course Charlie Fairhead – actor Derek Thompson – is just pleased to see his old pal back at the NHS.
In recent years Robinson has starred in in Thames Television’s cop drama The Bill as Detective Constable Jacob Banks, appearing from 2008 up until the shows demise two years later.
Casualty airs on BBC One on Saturday nights.
