Mr Selfridge had the better of the BAFTA film awards on BBC One which pulled in its best ratings for several years. Coverage of the awards ceremony, presented by Stephen Fry, had 5.4 million viewers.

Prior to the BAFTA’s on BBC One the popular drama series Call the Midwife continued with 8.8 million viewers. While at 6.30 comedy Blandings pulled in 4 million viewers; a rise in ratings following last week’s tumble.

Dancing on Ice meanwhile had 6.7 million viewers for its main show and a lower 5.1 million viewers for the skate-off; Joe Pasquale was voted off the series last night. Dancing on Ice is facing rumours of the axe as ratings fail to sparkle compared to previous years.
