Joseph Morgan Talks Vampire Diaries spin-off

VD-Klaus-medJoseph Morgan has discussed the potential Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals.

The actor plays original vampire/hybrid Klaus on the hit CW drama series and in April a “back-door” pilot will air, as part of The Vampire Diaries fourth season, for the proposed spin-off The Originals. Based in New Orleans the spin-off will focus on the character of Klaus and will also feature fellow originals Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt).

In a new interview actor Joseph Morgan has discussed the proposed spin-off and what’s in-store for the character of Klaus. Entertainment Weekly quote Morgan as saying “...There’s some huge, huge transitions and some reveals that will change the character forever…. We’re gonna see some tremendous moments of vulnerability, but he is so, I wanna swear, badass. We’re gonna see him cooler than he’s ever been before…..It would be nice, if we were picked up or even possibly during the pilot, to see a little bit of Klaus as the underdog, the one we’re rooting for”

The Originals will also star Phoebe Tonkin continuing her Vampire Diaries role of werewolf Hayley and Charles Michael Davis will play Klaus’ former protégé Marcel. The episode will also star Daniella Pineda, Danielle Campbell and Leah Pipes and is being written by Vampire Diaries show-runner Julie Plec.
