The People claims that Flanagan has met with ITV bosses and has landed herself a £500,000 contract to follow in the footsteps of Kerry Katona, Katie Price and Peter Andre by exposing her life to television viewers. Bosses reportedly think that Flanagan is the “next big thing” and her series will be a hit with the public.
A source told the tabloid newspaper “She’s excited – she can’t believe she’s being offered her own show. She’s perfect for ITV2. Her life’s a car crash and the British public love to watch it. Since she appeared on I’m A Celeb, love her or hate her she’s fascinating to watch. She’s being viewed as the next big thing for the network. She is taking over where Katie and Kerry left off.”
Flanagan played Rosie Webster on Coronation Street between 2000 and 2012 and was involved in a string of high profile storylines. She later appeared in the 12th series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! finishing in 7th place.
Flanagan has recently found herself at the centre of some controversy; she posed with a gun just days after the Sandy Hook tragedy and has also been spotted with leather bags despite claiming she supports PETA.
ATV Today critic Queenie Le Trout dishes her thoughts on the news. “I’m sure the majority of the public would rather watch Last of the Summer Wine on a constant loop than watch the antics of this ‘actress’ turned ‘celebrity’. Quite why anyone would think Helen Flanagan is TV gold is beyond me but then ITV2 is the channel that axed the wonderful Switch and thinks viewers want Kerry Katona, Peter Andre, Katie Price and the cast of TOWIE on our screens”
