‘Rehearsal footage’ aired on BGT leads to ‘fake’ claims

Britain's Got TalentA sequence in ITV’s search for a star series, Britain’s Got Talent, earlier this week aired footage from the ‘dress rehearsal’ leading to social network users crying ‘fakery’.

You may expect from the ‘outrage’ it must concern a full act’s performance from the reaction of viewers on Twitter – when in actual fact all that was screened from the rehearsal was a few seconds in a recap showing the voting procedure.

“Baffling anyone would think it was faked, if they’d watched the full performance by J-Unity earlier with Cowell and the audience in place.” Said critic Queenie adding, “Maybe the machine recording the programme gave up the will to live during that acts performance.”

A short clip of act J-Unity performing their song aired however the duo were seen performing to an empty studio with ‘stand in’ judges in place of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alisha Dixon.

Production company Thames Television noted that ‘Due to a technical error, footage from J-Unity’s dress rehearsal had to be used‘. They also stated that during the rehearsals none of the judges sit in, instead crew members – in this case three men and one woman – take their place.

The Sun also reported that a ‘insider’ at ITV said, “Cowell hates things like this as it makes the show look shoddy. He will be keen it doesn’t happen again,”
