The third series of the detective drama starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp concluded in May with over 7 million viewers.
Producers Red Production Company have stated via Twitter that ITV is set to order a fourth season.
The company tweeted “Exciting news – looks like ITV wants another series of Scott and Bailey“, however as yet ITV have not yet commented themselves on the re-commission.
Last week the broadcaster announced it had ordered a new six-part run of DCI Banks, starring Stephen Tompkinson and Caroline Catz. The Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour, starring Shaun Evans, has been renewed for a second series while post-war drama The Bletchley Circle, starring Anna Maxwell Martin, Rachael Stirling and Julie Graham, will also return for a second series.
ITV’s critically acclaimed drama Broadchurch has also been renewed following its stellar performance early this year.
As yet ITV has not renewed Foyle’s War but creator & writer Anthony Horowitz has hinted that a renewal is likely. The 8th series of the drama aired earlier this year and was re-tooled slightly with Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen) working for the secret services helping to combat the threat of Soviet spies in the early days of the Cold War. The 8th series was well received by critics and viewers alike with ratings higher than series 7 which aired in 2010.
