Hollywood actress Meg Ryan has received the Taormina Arte Award at the Taormina Film Festival earlier this week.
The award show took place in Italy yesterday part of the festival which started on June 15th and ends tomorrow.
The gong giving was in a sombre mood following the death of actor James Gandolfini. The 51-year-old died of a heart attack on Wednesday. He had been scheduled to feature in the 59-year old Film Festival’s grand finale on Saturday night.
Ryan’s arrival at the festival became the top attraction of the day with a question and answer session with the movie star prior to her accepting the gong.
The event also saw the Italian premiere of Trance, a Danny Boyle created crime thriller, screened in Taormina’s 2,400-year-old Teatro Antico venue. There were also homages to Nora Ephron and the memory of James Gandolfini.
