No axe for Absolutely Fabulous

Absolutely FabulousDespite Jam & Jerusalem being ditched by BBC Comedy four years ago, the department execs still hope for more of Jennifer Saunders other sitcom, Ab Fab.

The corporations comedy boss Shane Allen has indicated that the broadcaster would welcome further adventures of Patsy and Edina, although there are currently no plans for a new series of the show which first launched in 1992.

The quirky comedy written by Jennifer Saunders was last seen on our screens in 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the shows launch as well as a one-off episode for the London 2012 Olympics.

Obviously, Jennifer is brilliant. I’d do anything she wants. [Absolutely Fabulous] is in the national fabric, isn’t it? The door’s wide open. – Shane Allen, BBC Comedy

Ab Fab stars Saunders as Edina alongside Joanna Lumley as Patsy, a pair of drug-abusing, drunk ‘toffs’ who run a celebrity agency.
