Casualty-mediumVeteran actress Honor Blackman is to guest star in Casualty the BBC has revealed.

Blackman is perhaps best known for playing Pussy Galore opposite Sean Connery in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. Prior to landing the role of a Bond girl the actress played Cathy Gale in The Avengers; her successor in the show Diana Rigg would also go on to appear in a James Bond film as would the show’s lead star Patrick McNee.

The BBC has revealed that Blackman will play a “feisty pensioner” in the medical drama; her character ends up in A&E after being hit by a bicycle. Blackman’s appearance in Casualty will be in the first episode of the new series which airs on 3rd August.

Casualty’s executive producer Oliver Kent said of the casting “We’ve had a long history of famous guest appearances but never a Bond girl….[Honor Blackman] plays a fantastically witty and charming character on a mission.”

Although Goldfinger and The Avengers remain Honor Blackman’s most famous of roles the actress has a long list of other credits to her name including appearances in Doctor Who, The Royal, Coronation Street, Robin’s Nest, Minder, The Upper Hand, Midsomer Murders and Bridget Jones’s Diary.
