TV Line reports that Nixon has landed herself a role in the second season of NBC‘s psychological horror starring Mads Mikkelsen as the famous cannibal.
Nixon will play Kade Prurnell, an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Overnight. The character is assigned to investigate the events of the first season and Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fisburne) culpability.
The first season of Hannibal received mixed reviews and was pulled by NBC affiliate KSL-TV in Salt Lake City because of its violent nature. However, it took the affiliate four episodes to realise the nature of the series and pull it – shoving it in a late-night slot. In the UK the drama is shown on Sky Living.
Since the finale of Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon has made numerous appearances on television. Perhaps her most notable roles of late though have been Rebecca in The Big C and the scheming Petranilla in the historical mini-series World Without End.
A date has yet to be set for the second season premier of Hannibal.
