Channel 4In a move that is likely to be widely criticised by the media Channel 4 has ordered a new celebrity skiing series.

The new show is bound to be compared with ITV‘s much criticised, but ratings hit series, Splash! which featured celebrities diving. Channel 4 has commissioned Twofour production company to produce the series; they produced Splash! for ITV.

The new Channel 4 entertainment series will air early in 2014 ahead of the broadcaster’s showing of the 2014 Paralympics Winter Games.

The format will be similar to Splash! in that expert coaches and Olympians will train celebrities for the various challenges they will face. As yet no celebrities have been announced for the series which is to be stripped across 10 nights.

Splash! line-up of celebrities was widely criticised by the press with the likes of Joey Essex, Caprice, Tina Malone and Linda Barker taking part. Splash! success was widely put down to the presence of popular Olympian Tom Daley who was the coach on the series.
