On Wednesday AMC announced it had reached a deal with Sony Pictures Television – the company behind critics darling Breaking Bad – to produce a prequel spin-off. TV Line reports that the Breaking Bad prequel will centre on the character of Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) the lawyer of Walter (Bryan Cranston).
The character of Saul was introduced in the second season of the AMC drama in a recurring role and was added to the main cast for the third season onwards. The prequel series has been rumoured for months and the deal between Sony and AMC means it will bypass the pilot stage and go straight to series.
However, at this stag its unclear if Bob Odenkirk will continue in the role for the prequel spin-off as the series will feature the character of Saul at a younger age.
Breaking Bad reaches its highly anticipated season finale on September 29th.
