Penny Dreadful actress Billie Piper has landed a role in another Sky drama.
Piper will star alongside The Hour and Skyfall actor Ben Whishaw and Lost in Austen actress Lindsay Duncan in a new drama for Sky Arts. The trio will star in Foxtrot; a one-off play about a gang heist that goes wrong. Foxtrot is written by Polly Stenham and will be shown as part of the Playhouse Presents strand on Sky Arts.
The actress’ role in the drama comes a day after Sky Atlantic announced it will co-produce and broadcast, in the UK, the forthcoming Showtime drama Penny Dreadful. The gothic horror drama, which will provide origin stories for characters such as Dracula and Dorian Grey, will star Piper along with Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear and Josh Hartnett.
Billie Piper is the third Doctor Who actor to work on the Playhouse Presents strand for Sky. David Tennant appeared in the play The Minor Character while Matt Smith directed the play Cargese. Actress Lindsay Duncan – who will co-star with Piper in the new film – has also appeared in Doctor Who.
Later this year Billie Piper and David Tennant will reprise their respective roles in the Doctor Who 50th special The Day of the Doctor which will also star Matt Smith, Jenna Louise Coleman and John Hurt.
