The Saturdays singer Una Healy has spoken about Hashimoto’s hyperthyroidism to Fabulous Magazine.
Fabulous cover star, Una, mum to 18-month-old Aoife, exclusively reveals that a routine health check shocked her into bringing forward her baby plans with rugby-player partner Ben Foden.
The tests two years ago showed she had Hashimoto’s hyperthyroidism, an autoimmune disease that can lead to infertility.
Speaking about the condition for the first time the 31 year old says:
I freaked out. Straight away I said to Ben: ‘Let’s stop not trying and see what happens.’
Luckily for Una, it didn’t take long before she fell pregnant with Aoife, but she adds:
If it hadn’t been for that check-up I’d probably have kept putting it off, thinking I had loads of time. And to this day I wouldn’t be pregnant.
