The American remake of the nordic-noir series The Bridge has been given a second series by FX.
Despite so-so ratings for the first series broadcaster FX has given the drama a second run. FX is keen to point out that DVR ratings for The Bridge are very good compared to overnight figures. The drama series stars Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger alongside Matthew Lillard and Ted Levine.
The series is based on the Danish/Swedish crime drama which, translated into English, is titled The Bridge. In its native Scandinavia though the series is titled Bron or Broen. The series is part of the Nordic-noir genre that includes hit series The Killing which has also been remade for American audiences although broadcasters AMC axed the series (again) at the conclusion of its third season.
FX’s version of The Bridge isn’t the only remake of the Danish drama. The UK broadcaster Sky Atlantic and the French broadcaster Canal + are co-producing a remake titled The Tunnel which will star Stephen Dillane and Clémence Poésy.
