Robbie to perform songs from new Swing album in London’s famous Palladium

BBC Worldwide has secured global rights to Robbie Williams’ first live performance of songs from his forthcoming new album Swings Both Ways.

The filmed event will take place at the UK’s historic London Palladium in November and will feature Robbie Williams and special guests singing songs from the new album, which includes both established classics and new songs penned by Robbie with his long-term musical collaborator Guy Chambers, alongside favourites from the ‘Swing When You’re Winning’ album.

Robbie Williams’ Swings Both Ways is released on 18th November and features the singer giving his interpretation of standards such as Puttin’ on the Ritz and Dream A Little Dream, as well as performing new tracks including forthcoming single Go Gentle. Some of music’s biggest names duet with Robbie on the album including Lily Allen, Michael Bublé, Kelly Clarkson, Olly Murs and Rufus Wainwright.Robbie Williams

Swing When You’re Winning will have been released twelve years ago this November and we like other Robbie fans have been waiting patiently for the follow-up. Robbie is one of the most versatile performers of our times – a truly outstanding pop star, who was born to sing Swing songs.

We are thrilled to be involved in this project and to have secured the global rights to Robbie’s much anticipated return to Swing. This promises to be a fantastic performance and a must-see event for Robbie’s millions of fans around the world, as well as for anyone that enjoys great Swing and Big Band performances. – Salim Mukaddam, Director of Music for BBC Worldwide

Swings Both Ways is the follow-up to Robbie’s 2001 album Swing When You’re Winning, which is his most successful album to date, selling over seven million copies worldwide going platinum in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland.

In the UK it spent six consecutive weeks at the top of the album chart and was certified seven times platinum. A live performance of the album at London’s Royal Albert Hall was recorded for DVD and is still one of the best-selling music DVDs of all time in Europe, achieving six times platinum status in the UK and double platinum in Germany.

The new performance DVD – Robbie Williams: One Night at the Palladium – will be released in the UK on 9th December and is set to feature the Palladium performance, with four songs not to be found anywhere else and exclusive behind the scenes footage shot as the show comes together over several weeks.
