BBC One has confirmed it will air a third series of drama Last Tango In Halifax.
The news was announced today ahead of the second series finale which airs this Christmas Eve at 9pm.

Last Tango In Halifax, was commissioned for a third series by Charlotte Moore, Controller BBC One, and Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning. The corporation note the drama has achieved its highest ever rating during its second run pulling in 7.6 million consolidated viewers – 6.3 million overnight – to BBC One. The first series averaged 7.3 million viewers.

The third series will go into production in 2014, to be broadcast later in the year.
