Chris Tarrant to host Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? retrospective

Chris Tarrant, 2002, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Chris Tarrant is to host an ITV special looking back at 15 years of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? in a one-off clip show charting the most memorable moments from the game show.

In Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? Chris’s Final Answer! the quiz master takes a look back at some of his favourite moments from the last decade and a half on the show. The contestants that have stuck with him, all of the million pound moments and of course the infamous coughing Major.

I’ve loved the buzz of it and will miss the sheer drama of watching someone, literally eyeball to eyeball, agonising over whether or not they know an answer and are brave enough to go for it, with a huge amount of money at stake!

I’m not sure I’ll miss someone shouting “hey Chrissie, do you wanna phone a friend?” at me out of their car window or across a busy street. I genuinely think it’s happened to me every day since September 1998. It even happened last year when I was filming in Sierra Leone! – Chris Tarrant

The last-ever edition of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs on Tuesday February the 4th, at 8pm on ITV, with celebrity contestants Olympic cycling legend, Sir Chris Hoy, aims to win gold once again for mental health charity SAMH and children’s charity UNICEF. Joining him in the hotseat is fellow Scotsman and stand-up comedian, Kevin Bridges who is playing for The Euan MacDonald Centre. Also looking to hit the jackpot are TV favourites James Nesbitt and Dom Joly. The pair aim to win the much sought after six figure cheque for charities Child Soldiers International and Save The Children.

Finally, Hairy Biker, Dave Myers, partners up with Strictly Come Dancing co-star and brainbox beauty, Rachel Riley, as they aim to triumph in Tarrant’s hotseat for respective charities St Mary’s Hospice and Angus Lawson Memorial Trust.

I’m really looking forward to taking part in the last ever episode of such an iconic game show. I’m hoping Kevin and I can put our heads together and come away with a huge cheque for our chosen charities, but I’m fully aware Chris Tarrant won’t let it be an easy challenge! – Chris Hoy

The retrospective airs a week later on February the 11th at 8pm on ITV.
