Australians in Film, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization that serves as the industry guild for Australian filmmakers and performers in the US, announced new details regarding the Sixth Annual Heath Ledger Scholarship.
This years programme includes a highly esteemed judging panel, new sponsors and a prize package increase. This is the final call for entries for the scholarship, as applications will close Friday, April 4th 2014.
Actors on the panel of judges include Colin Farrell, Miranda Otto and Wes Bentley, directors Gregor Jordan and Robert Luketic, Australian-based casting director Ann Fay and Vice President of Feature Casting at Walt Disney Studios Randi Hiller.
For the 2014 Scholarship, the prize package increase includes $5,000 worth of visa and immigration services from Raynor & Associates Immigration Lawyers and two years of classes at Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre Los Angeles. Ausfilm returns as sponsors of the Scholarship.
The recipient of the primary scholarship, which was established in 2008 in memory of Australian actor Heath Ledger, who served as an ambassador for the organization, will receive a return flight to Los Angeles on Virgin Australia, a 10-day California trip from Visit California, $5,000 worth of Visa and Immigration services from Raynor & Associates, a complimentary lifetime membership to StarNow, and $10,000 cash, affording talented young Aussies the opportunity to establish themselves in the heart of the entertainment industry, and reach an international audience.
Two runners up will receive a round-trip ticket to Los Angeles courtesy of Virgin Australia. Benefactors to the Scholarship include Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, Deborra-Lee Furness, Michelle Williams, Phil Noyce, Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin.
