Snoop Dogg for Coronation StreetRapper and self confessed actor Snoop Dogg wants a part in hit ITV saga Coronation Street. The performer, visiting the North West yesterday, thinks its about time Weatherfield had a new dogg on the block.

Speaking to Dianne Bourne of the Manchester Evening News he said: “I had my agent reach out to them to try and get me on it and they said they were interested so hopefully I will.  It would be perfect to be on it this year – with their 50th anniversary.  I would do whatever they like.  I’m an actor I could do it.”

Snoop Dogg was a surprise guest in Manchester yesterday when he popped into Ordsall Community Centre. Coronation Street actress Sue Nicholls has had her own chart success in the sixties when her acting career lead her into the pop charts.

ATV Network, Sue Nicholls, Crossroads, 1967Sue, who has played hairdresser Audrey Roberts since 1979, hit the top 20 in 1968 with the Tony Hatch song Where Will You Be? The ballad had been written especially for soap opera Crossroads – in which Sue played Motel Waitress Marilyn Gates at the time.

Other current Coronation Street warblers, turned actors, include former Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh – who plays barmaid Michelle Connor – Boyzone sex symbol Keith Duffy as barman Ciaran McCarthy, Barbara Knox – newsagent Rita Sullivan – and Betty Driver, long running Rovers cook Betty Williams.

Snoop might be leading Bourne round the park however as ITV say they have not been offered a dogg as yet.
