Some of the producers on The Simpsons have agreed to take pay cut, according to reports.
Earlier this week Fox announced it could no longer afford to produce The Simpsons under its current “financial” model and if cuts were not made it would axe the long-running animated comedy. It quickly emerged that Fox wanted the cast of the series, which includes Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith, to have a 45% pay cut. That’s quite a hefty cut but Fox stated unless cuts were made The Simpsons would end.
Well Entertainment Weekly are reporting that several top-level producers on the comedy have agreed to take pay cuts to keep the series on-air. Variety has reported that the cast has offered to take a 30% pay cut which Fox has reportedly declined. With several producers taking pay-cuts its believed there is renewed hope a deal can be reached even if its only to produce a final season.
