The former Border Television region, now ITV Border, has had its half-hour local programme restored. People in the Borders would have seen a return to a Border-only news service as of today as all ITV Regional news for them covered stories solely on Southern Scotland and Cumbria, similar to pre-Tyne Tees merger in February 2009.
Peter MacMahon is joining ITV’s Border service, which covers Cumbria, southern Scotland and parts of the North West, as Political Editor.
The regional provisions on ITV have been outlined by television regulator OFCOM.
ITV Border – better known in Cumbria as Border Television – is set to have its own half hour regional news show Lookaround restored to the schedules in September.
People in the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway will see more Independence referendum coverage, with special programmes for the region.
