The Jury launched on ITV1 last night with over 6 million viewers while BBC One‘s daytime drama Land Girls returned for a third season.
The Jury proved to be a hit for its first outing last night on ITV1 as the Julie Walters drama pulled in over 6 million viewers. The five-part drama is stripped across ITV1 this week at 9pm as it follows a court case through the eyes of a jury. According to early overnight figures the drama pulled in 6.2 million viewers for its opening instalment – the key test for The Jury will be whether or not it can maintain such figures across the week.
Meanwhile World War Two based drama Land Girls returned to BBC One yesterday afternoon for its third season. The successful drama is an good example of the BBC’s commitment to expanding its daytime output beyond cheap antique and house-hunting shows – boosting its drama line-up for daytime audiences. The third season of Land Girls began with 1.3 million viewers at 2.10pm which was slightly down on season two’s average of 1.6 million viewers.
