The third season finale of The Vampire Diaries saw a drop in ratings for the supernatural drama.
8pm: CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory out-rated Fox‘s ratings titan American Idol with 18-49 viewers scoring a 4.2 rating but had 13.3 million viewers overall. American Idol meanwhile had a higher 15.1 million viewers but a lower 3.9 18-49 rating. Following The Big Bang Theory on CBS at 8.30pm was Rules of Engagement which had 8.8 million viewers with a 2.7 18-49 rating. NBC Community, recently renewed for a new season, pulled in 3.1 million viewers with a 1.4 rating followed by 30 Rock, renewed for a final season, with 2.9 million viewers and a 1.5 18-49 rating.
ABC‘s Missing, just renewed by the broadcaster, pulled in 6.3 million viewers with a 1.1 rating. The third season finale of The Vampire Diaries saw a dip in ratings as 2.4 million viewers tuned in overall with a 1.1 18-49 rating. The finale saw Elena (Nina Dobrev) finally pick between Stefan (Paul Welsey) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) as well as a *shock* death.
At 9pm Grey’s Anatomy on ABC was seen by 9.5 million viewers with a 3.4 18-49 rating wining the hour but CBS’s Person of Interest had more viewers; 12.6 million with a 2.6 rating. NBC’S The Office attracted 4.4 million viewers with a 2.2 rating followed by Parks and Recreation with 3.4 million and a 1.7 rating. Touch on Fox, another drama returning for a new season, had 6.9 million viewers with a 2.0 rating while The Secret Circle on The CW had 1.2 million viewers with a 0.5 rating.
10pm: The Mentalist on CBS mustered 12.4 million viewers with a 2.4 rating, Scandal on ABC had 6.5 million viewers with a 2.0 rating while NBC’S Awake had 2.4 million viewers with a 0.9 rating.
