The fifth season of HBO‘s True Blood kicked off to solid ratings on Sunday evening.

The residents of Bon Temps returned for a fifth season on Sunday evening with 6.3 million viewers across True Blood’s two showings. According to reports the actual premier itself was seen by 5.2 million viewers which is slightly down on the season four premier but up on the finale. An additional 1.1 million viewers watched the repeat later in the evening giving a combined audience of 6.3 million viewers. Given the fact that True Blood has now been on-air for five seasons that’s a pretty impressive feat!

The fifth season of True Blood see’s new cast members Christopher Meloni, Peter Mensah and Lucy Griffiths join regulars such as Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard.
