The fourth season of BBC One’s revived Doctor Who was the most popular programme on iPlayer, the BBC’s playback service.
The fourth season of Doctor Who was the most watched programme on BBC’s iPlayer over the past year. It wasn’t just online that Doctor Who proved to be a hit for the BBC with ratings for the series also proving to be big. The Christmas Special, Voyage of the Damned, was a huge hit with 13 million viewers tuning in while the finale of the fourth season was watched by over 10 million viewers. Meanwhile new drama series Merlin is also proving to be popular with online viewers. In a list of top ten programmes watched on the BBC iPlayer service Merlin is 5th followed by Survivors, the reimaged 1970s series, closely behind at number 6th. The recent series of Spooks also proved a hit on the iPlayer with it charting 9th in the most watched programmes.
