Each X Factor judge has chosen which act they want to see go home.

In a ‘big twist’ this weekend there would be no public phone vote, instead each judge had to choose one contestant from their own category to be eliminated. In the over 25 category, mentor Louis Walsh decided that Jonjo Kerr was not up to scratch after his performance on Saturday which was not received well by all of the judges. Louis said: “It was tough but i had to send someone home”.

In the boys category, Gary Barlow chose to send home James Michael. He hasn’t received as much press attention as the other boys and on Saturday his performance of the Beatles classic ‘Ticket To Ride’ didn’t go down well with the panel.

Tulisa said that choosing to send home one of her acts would be hard because they had come so close. The group she chose to send home was 2 Shoes. Gary was critical of their performance of ‘Something Kind of Ooh’ saying it was “Karaoke night in Romford”. Tulisa was in tears as she said goodbye to the Essex duo but insists she will keep in-touch with them.

The last judge to send someone home was Kelly Rowland. Before making her choice and erupting into tears she said that both Sophie Habibis and Amelia Lily were ‘stars’. Kelly then saved Sophie, sending Amelia home. Amelia opened last night’s show with Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’.

Last year’s winner Matt Cardle and ‘Forget You’ singer Cee Lo Green performed on stage. Next weekend will be the first time the public will be given a chance to save their favourite contestant.
