Tina O’Brien is to reprise her role of Sarah-Louise Platt in Coronation Street.
The actress will begin filming on the cobbles early next year with Sarah-Lou appearing on-screen in the spring alongside her now teenage daughter Bethany.
A statement on the soap’s official website teases: “Gail is already facing a turbulent few months with her dysfunctional family and will no doubt be delighted her daughter and granddaughter are back in the fold. But it looks like her only daughter is going to cause her as much grief as sons Nick and David, whilst granddaughter Bethany has also grown up into something of a wild child.”
“I am delighted to be returning. Sarah has a lot of history and unfinished business on the street and I’m looking forward to finding out what she’s been up to and why she’s returned home.” – Tina
Sarah-Lou’s most notable storyline to date saw her fall pregnant at the age of 12, and give birth to daughter Bethany aged 13. She was later almost killed by psychotic stepfather Richard Hillman and was left devastated when her partner Todd Grimshaw came out as gay after cheating on her with Karl Foster. Sarah’s return will have repercussions for the Grimshaw family as she went on to marry Todd’s brother Jason.
O’Brien took over the role of Sarah-Lou from Lynsay King in 1999, remaining with the show until 2007. Since leaving she has appeared in Waterloo Road, Casualty and Call The Midwife.
