Annabel Marlow asks ‘is this okay??’

Annabel Marlow was just 18 years old when she auditioned for a small new little musical that was heading to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.

So far so normal, except she played the role of Katherine Howard and the little musical went and got a huge amount of buzz very very quickly. From SIX (Edinburgh Fringe original cast), Public (Vaults, Edinburgh Fringe) and several perfect pictures (Instagram) Annabel Marlow makes her solo comedy debut.

In ... is this okay ?? Audiences will be invited to enjoy a comedy gig of original music, perfect singing (not even kidding), and absolute vibes. Imagine that you’ve just wandered into Annabel’s uni room to hang out and she’s said “hey can I play you these new songs?”. And you say “Sure ok” and she says “Ok great, let me know what you think“.  And she plays some musical comedy songs, and she also plays some original music-not-comedy songs. Some are pop songs, some are bluesy, some are more story-telly and theatrical.

And you tell her they’re really good. Because they’re really good.

And then you and her chat about some of the topics in those songs, and you chat and laugh about love, and break up sex, and overthinking, and contraception and loving your friends and just how much attention one girl apparently needs…

It’s a cosy, intimate, fun chill vibe but it’s also a f*cking concert so get ready. And maybe she’ll also throw some character comedy in there. So put down the knitting, and bring a hot single friend to watch Annabel perform all these songs and jokes about literally herself and maybe three others.

Annabel Marlow is a 24-year-old actor, comedian and musician. She performed as the original Katherine Howard in SIX original cast, performing in 2018 at Edinburgh Fringe, as well as performances in the ADC Theatre in Cambridge.

Annabel also stars in Public – a new musical which sold out their Vaults run, and won the Pleasance Charlie Hartill award – she will also be performing in the shows first full length run at the Edinburgh Festival – Contact Pleasance press office for more details.

Annabel went on to graduate from LAMDA on the Acting Foundation, and then moving to Leeds University where she graduated with First Class Honours. Embarrassingly, Annabel could not force herself to fall in love with a sensible career option, so continued her acting training and was among the 1% of applicants to gain a place on the MA Contemporary Acting course at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama Annabel has written songs since she was at school, and started writing comedy at University. This year she has tried to gig her comedy and music, and musical comedy as much as possible. Annabel was one of over a thousand applicants for the Musical Comedy Awards 2023. It was her first time competing, and she achieved 3rd place in the finals.
